Microsoft has been supplying the Microsoft Power Platform since the beginning of 2018. A no-/low-code platform where anyone with a business question can create an application. Microsoft turns every user into a ‘Citizen Developer’. They meet a strong need from the market to create flexible applications around existing infrastructure. In addition to the flexibility, the power of the Power Platform is that everything communicates with each other. So the integration power is enormous.
Within many companies employees fire a constant stream of questions from the business to the IT department, but not everything can be handled at the same time. Recognizable to everyone, your important questions will be picked up later. This is frustrating for every stakeholder. This is precisely why it is nice if business users can easily create their own solutions. So now just pick up problems yourself and simply make a solution to them. From an IT perspective, a facilitating role is sufficient to get people to work with it.
Microsoft has bundled three applications. These are Microsoft Power Automate, PowerApps and Power BI. Power Automate is intended to execute workflows. Think of an automated email that is sent when a certain treshold is exceeded. Microsoft has developed a large number of standard workflows that can be deployed directly via the Power Automate environment. PowerApps offers an easy way to, for example, create an app on Dynamics 365FO. Think of a way in which mechanics can easily keep track of their stock and update it in D365FO. Then use Power BI to analyze all data within the Platform and create reports.
Data from different environments can easily be brought together with Common Data Service (CDS). This service provides the link between a multitude of business applications such as Microsoft Dynamics ERP, CRM, SAP and, for example, Salesforce. With Canvas Apps you can easily put the content from CDS into an application for end users in which data from different sources converge in the app.
With Microsoft’s Power Platform you have three important productivity apps under one roof. This makes the integration easy and allows you to create a wide range of solutions to existing problems in a short period of time. Think of inefficient reporting habits of sales people that you can easily solve. For example, a form in which they enter their meeting reports. If they don’t, Power Automate sends a reminder to the account manager. Still no call report after 48 hours? Then his manager also receives a message.
